FRIENDS OF CCSC Bulletin November 2007
Here we go! The Friends of Cape Cod Swim Club is gearing up for the first home swim meet of the season. As you know, the Friends group is responsible for coordinating the parent volunteer effort at home meets. Please remember to bring your food donation, as the proceeds from our concession area are one of the main sources of fundraising for the Friends. Some parent volunteer jobs help with Friends fundraising, and others ensure that CCSC meets not only are safe and enjoyable for all, but also meet the official requirements of New England and USA Swimming. Thanks to all families for their participation. Without your help, we couldn’t run a meet! GOOD LUCK SWIMMERS!!
November Meet Program Cover Contest Congratulations to Kelsey Scholl of AG2 whose entry was selected for the cover of the November meet program. Be sure to check out her design, which is posted on the MMA bulletin board. Thanks to all swimmers who participated in the contest!
The Next Friends Meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the MMA. All are welcome. We hope you will join us to recap the November meet, plan for the December meet, decide on a Banquet gift, and more!
CCSC Team Day 2007 The Friends group is planning to join the CCSC in sponsoring a day-long CCSC Team Day 2007 on Saturday, December 1. We hope this event will be an opportunity for swimmers and families alike to socialize, to have fun together, and to foster our sense of pride as a team. Look for an announcement from the Club with details about the event. The Friends will be organizing breakfast for the AM swimmers, running a parent coffee hour, and will be providing pizza for all swimmers during a movie showing at lunchtime. The Friends will provide the pizza and would like parents from each of the groups to bring in some additional goodies for the kids and families on this day. Please contact Lori Jones at ccscfriends.lori@yahoo.com as soon as possible if you would be willing to help out with the following or organize for your group:
JR/SR parents—breakfast items for swimmers after AM workout (muffins, juice, fresh fruit, bagels)—Ann Saunders has kindly volunteered
to organize breakfast
AG1 parents—coffee, juice, and light breakfast fare (donuts, breakfast breads, muffins) for the parent coffee hour
AG2 parents—drinks, paper goods, and simple dessert items for the pizza party
We also think this will be an excellent chance for putting some team-building ideas into action. One swimmer suggested having the groups make spirit posters to bring to the December home meet. Other suggestions include having the swimmers work on something for the Banquet. So put on your thinking caps—we welcome ideas from swimmers and parents alike as to how to make this a special event for the whole Club!
Help Wanted! The Friends group is looking for some volunteers for a few simple positions that are important but do not require a heavy time commitment. If you can give just 2-3 hours each month, one of these opportunities might be just right for you.
Fundraising Update Our 2007-2008 fundraisers are well underway; many thanks to all who have gotten involved. We plan to offer a file box in the MMA hallway where order forms, announcements, and other necessary materials will be available regularly.
