CCSC History
The Cape Cod Swim Club was started in 1971 in Hyannis Motel
Pools and it was the first AAU club of its kind on Cape Cod.
In 1972 the club trained at the Otis Air Base pool. Coach Marc
Solomon joined the staff and took over as head coach in 1973.
The club had rough going in the 1970s when the Otis pool was
closed. After several "starts and stops" the club was
re-started by Solomon in 1978 at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy
pool, its current home.
In the mid 1990s the club added the Sandwich High School pool
as one of its training facilities and now trains up to 50 swimmers
at that location. Around the same time, the club added the lap
pool at the Ocean Edge Resort and Golf Club to train young people
from the Lower Cape.
The CCSC began its camp program in 1997 and runs from two
to five weeks of five day overnight camps every summer.
Today, the CCSC is thriving and has two full-time professional
coaches and 4-6 part time coaches.
Every year, the CCSC continues to improve. In 2003, the CCSC
broke more senior club records than in any other year since its
beginning. Also in 2003, the CCSC boasted the #1 swims in New
England in both the Men's and Women's 1650 freestyle.

This is the MMA pool around 1990. Back then the
walls were orange and the bleachers were gray. |
