2008 Summer Camps
The Cape Cod Swim Club is hosting two weeks of swim camp for Summer 2008! We are looking for swimmers ages 11 to 16 who want to spend a week learning more about the best sport in the world. Participants will attend two workouts per day at our pool at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy (MMA) in Bourne. We will take day trips to local areas of interest such as Old Silver Beach and Woods Hole. Athlete lodging is located on the water-front next to the scenic Cape Cod Canal in the MMA dormitories. Meals will be served in the MMA dining hall, one of Cape Cod's most frequented dining establishments.
Two Weeks Available!
This year’s dates include a four-night camp that runs from June 29-July 3 and a five-night camp that runs from July 27-August 1.
Cost
The price of the four-night camp from June 29-July 3 is $665 and the price of the five-night camp from July 27-August 1 is $715. All campers returning from last year will receive a $75 discount. A $200 Deposit is due with your application and is non-refundable unless space is unavailable.
For additional information on the camp, please call the CCSC at (508) 564-5690 or e-mail to Capecodswimclub@aol.com.
Camp Highlights
The CCSC has
two main goals we try to meet at each Summer Camp. First, we hope
our campers leave at the end of the week having learned a lot about
swimming. We will cover a huge range of topics including stroke
technique, nutrition, training methods, and racing tips.
Second, we want
our campers to have a good time. We try to get in a lot of fun activities.
Past years' activities have included: a day at the beach, a science
cruise, a relay festival, a tour of the Maritime's vessel, a night
at the movies, a visiting speaker, a walk to our local ice cream
shop, a cruise along the canal, a barbeque, a run-swim competition,
and a bike ride along the Cape Cod Canal. We're always looking for
new ideas if you've got any!
One of the most
fun things about camp (any camp) is meeting new friends your own
age and hanging out with them. We get kids from all over New England,
the Mid-Atlantic states and as far south as Virginia. In 1997, we
had a camper from England!
Our home for
the week will be the MMA Dormitories. They are not luxury accomodations,
but the rooms have water views!
The workouts
we do at the camp are not difficult (for the most part). We spend
most of our time working on skills. If you are looking for a training
camp, we are not it. Mainly, we try to teach new skills and refine
known skills. We do a little "working out," but nothing
serious with regard to training.
Our pool is
a 25 yard, 6 lane, indoor facility.
We do expect
the camp to fill up very quickly. If you are interested, call the
CCSC office for an application. The number is (508) 564-5690.
